Short but sweet.

I know the Barry Chairlifts were not the usual Butlin's ones but they are going clockwise.

Shame about the Amusement park, at least someone is trying to revive the old town, I just hope the council have learnt from Butlins/Barry Island Resort.

i've a feeling these plans will go through, but he's a brave man to be taking on a big project.barry island died with butlins and i don't care what people say,yes its busy on hot summer days, but that doesn't pay the bills to get through the winter.

Restaurants, cafess, a cinema and bowling alley all under one roof?

Whoop-di-doo!

You can get that at any suburban mall. It's hardly going to attract tourists. Still though maybe that's the best thing for Barry Island, as it seems even the funfair can't attract tourists so obviously the towns tourism days are over.

Sad, but at least this development would be a useful facility for the local residents. It hardly replaces a holiday camp or funfair though.

Hi all,

Both Barry island and the old Butlins camp, hold very fond memories for me. I live in Cardiff and most of my younger days were spent in Butlins.

I was practically heartbroken, when they pulled the camp down. Such a shame. I still go to Barry on a regular basis, just for nostalgia sake.

My mother, was known as big Shirl. She was very popular at Butlins and I can see her on the stage in the Gaiety Ballroom as we speak.

A time machine would be the best invention ever, forget the internet.

I would have it take me back to the 1980's, so I could live them glory days once again. :D

Hope to hear from anyone, from this era.

Matt.
