The tops of the plinths that the giant stands on must of been well worn as I to stood in the exact spot you did in the early 70's, like many others did before and after.
My first (and only) encounter with the Boomerang was when a group of us took our kids in 98 and I was the only one willing (or daft enough) to escort a friends daughter on. Now living all my life in Blackpool I'm no stranger to roller coasters in fact I was one of the first to ride the Revolution during testing. But the Boomerang put the fear of god in me, mostly due to the state of the train, padding missing the restraints seemed loose and the whole thing rattled like it was about to fall apart.
Not good for your street cred having to be helped out by an 8 year old.
Here is the Ragin' Cajun as it's now called in its new home at Dixie Landin' Family Theme Park, Louisiana.

Love the train pictures, it's only the other month that Pushbutton and myself walked the old train route to the beach looking for sings of the good old days. The beach station is now fenced off with a new ramp to the beach and a wooden walkway to connect to the path to the headland.
