demolition is probably classed as the building trade,so they normally have a 2 week shutdown for christmas,therefore all the machinery was probably taken off site and taken back to the yard for safe storage over the holidays.so i would imagine that work has only just commenced again.

Just noticed they have put up a temporary fence between where they have demolished and what still remains. Does this mean the south side will survive a little longer ?

the fence is interesting alex,north side is obviously ready for rebuilding,i'm taking it to be that north of the fence is the new housing estate and south of the fence will just be left derelict.
if thats not the case why haven't they cracked on into the south side,on the other side of the fence it looks like no building stripping has taken place,so full demolition of the pontins site may not be part of the plans.

Have spent the last few hours reading this thread, very sad but interesting how they do things.
I've never stayed at Pontins in Blackpool but I did have some fab holidays at Pontins Wall Park & Camber Sands.
As others have said, the demolition of any place that holds so many memories for many generations is a tragedy

Maybe they are waiting till some of the property is sold to fund the demolition of the rest.

as nothing has been demolished since before christmas it definately looks like the fence is a cut off from the north were building work may commence soon and the south side were a reprieve from demolition may be in line for the time being,looks like all the demolition machinery hasn't returned to the site since the christmas holidays.
your weekly updates alex maybe over,if it looks like nothing else is going to happen.
the residents of any new housing on the north side maybe in the same situation as what happened to those moving into there new homes on barry island a few years ago.

I was in the Chinese last night where you can read the local paper the Evening Gazette where an article said that planning permission for another 73 houses was being sought for the south side of the old camp. I don't expect they won't get it.

Could you maybe lodge a formal objection to the planning application with Blackpool council? I think they're meant to give the public an opportunity to raise any concerns before they grant permission.

Your objection would have to be on the grounds that half a holiday camp is better than no holiday camp!

It looks like the demolition crew has moved off site as the security is being done from a car, which I can tell you is no fun. I expect it's only till the builders arrive with their site cabins.

So it seems the south side will last a little longer.

I never miss the Pontins Blackpool weekly updates, so thank you for taking the time to do it.
I wonder how long it will be before it's built on & if there will be any sign of the much loved camp then? It would be nice to name a cul-de-sac or something in honour of the old camp
